General Muhoozi Kainerugaba, son of President Yoweri Museveni and the head of Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF), is caught up in a scuffle with the Parliamentary Committee on Defense and Internal Affairs.
The defense committee is falling out with the Ministry of Defence over the failure to present the General on Jan 20th, 2025. Muhoozi is known to post reckless tweets calling into question the position of government on critical national matters. His latests tweets on hanging opposition leader Kizza Besigye on Heroes Day, caused an uproar with the public and civil societies. In another tweet he said he “WILL NEVER appear before parliamentary CLOWNS! Instead I will ARREST them all!”
The drama has led to calls for accountability from opposition figures and observers which led to Muhoozi abruptly deactivating his X account. Critics across the region argue that his unchecked behaviour undermines ’s governance and stability and are keenly watching to see how this will play out.
Simon Kabu Sues Ex-wife Sarah For Defamation
Bonfire Adventures CEO and co-founder, Simon Kabu, has filed a defamation suit against his estranged wife Sarah Njoki. The couple, who shot to fame with their prominent tours and travel company, founded in 2007, are now embroiled in a bitter legal dispute.
Kabu, through his lawyer Judith Kamoing’, accuses Sarah of circulating a defamatory internal memo dated December 18, 2024. She allegedly made false claims about his reputation where Kabu is said to fuel conflict of interest, mismanagement and malice within the company.
The suit also states that the damaging memo was shared with a WhatsApp group of 150 employees. The unfoldings have caused Kabu mental anguish and called in his conduct to question leading to loss of business and gross insubordination among employees. The case is set to be heard inter-party on February 3, 2025.
UDA Changes Name and Strategy After Merger with Amani National Congress

The ruling United Democratic Alliance Party (UDA) is overhauling and changing tact in preparedness for the 2027 elections. The rebranding follows the Friday’s merger with Amani National Congress (ANC) that happened at Statehouse on Friday, 17th January.
National chairperson, Cecily Mbarire, has announced a new outfit incorporating new identity symbols and colors will also lead to a myriad of other changes in governance and operations.
A merger committee has been formed to ensure the process happens within 90 days. This move comes at a time where President Ruto is embracing opposition figures to his government to consolidate support and stabilise his administration.
Aisha Jumwa Reappointed to Government as Chair of Kenya Roads Board
In the recent state appointments, President Ruto has appointed former Gender Cabinet Secretary Aisha Jumwa ad the non-executive chairperson of the Kenya Roads Board.
In his continued rewarding of allies, one of his top most campaigner from the Coast region, was awarded a state job for a period of three (3) years, with effect from January 17, 2025.
Jumwa, who ran for Kilifi governorship and lost, was booted from the Cabinet in July alongside other 8 CSs. At the same time, Defence CS Soipan Tuya has picked Millicent Omanga as a member of the Board of Directors of the Kenya Shipyard Limited.

In 2023, CMC Motors retrenched 169 employees as part of its exit after clearing stocks of brands like Ford and Mazda. The automotive company is following a growing list of old firms, like GlaxoSmithKline (GSK), De La Rue and Base Titanium, exiting the Kenyan market due to inflationary pressures.
