After her parents divorced, Tems, whose true name is Temilade Openiyi, moved back to Nigeria with my mother and brother when she was four years old. She was born in England on June 11, 1995. She often spent time in the music room practicing her singing because she didn’t have many friends. Tems and her brother used to spend time playing the guitar that her father had given her older brother. After quitting her work, she launched her career in 2018 with the release of her debut track, Mr. Rebel, after doing a little performance in their bedroom. She was working as a retailer manager at that time.

She continued after that! In 2019, she released “Looku Looku” and “Try Me.” In 2020, she released “These Days & Damages,” which was featured on Wizkid’s largest afrobeats album, “Made in Lagos,” on ESSENCE. She was dragged on stage by Wizkid at his starboy fest performance back in 2019. In 2021, Tems released her debut EP, “if orange was a place,” in which Future sampled her voice on Drake’s “Higher”! In addition to winning a Grammy for best lyrical Rap Performance, it made its debut on the BB Hot 100! And she had only just begun.

In July 2022, Tems won the NAACP Outstanding International Song award for her cover of Bob Marley’s “No Woman No Cry” for the Black Panther film “Wakanda Forever Soundtrack Album.” She was destined to be a musician!

Fast forward, Tems’ Love Me Jeje wins the Grammys award for Best African Music Performance.
