I guess you are wondering what the hell I am talking about or whether there is a Kenyan party in Germany or not. No there is not Kenyan party in Germany but now and then Germany politicians are made by election circumstances to fall into a coalition of parties with a color mix that ends up being like that of the Kenyan flag. In germany the main parties are the CDU/CSU union, SPD, AfD and the Greens with their party colors being black, red, blue and green respectively. Whenever there’s an election and there is no clear winner then the parties have to form a coalition for them to have a majority in parliament and form government. Mostly two big parties combine but some times three or four parties have to collaborate. When the CDU/CSU black, SPD red and Greens green combine for a coalition its called a Kenya Coalition because those are the main colors of the Kenyan flag.

As these are also the colours of the Kenyan flag, the name of that country is sometimes applied to the arrangement, in the same manner as the black-yellow-green “Jamaica coalition“.

The government formed following the 2016 Saxony-Anhalt state election was the first such black-red-green coalition government formation in Germany. Two more such coalitions were formed after the 2019 Brandenburg state election and 2019 Saxony state elections, which took place on the same day. In Brandenburg, the coalition was led by the SPD, while in Saxony, it was led by the CDU.
