Biden Bows out of US election race
After weeks of speculations, President Joe Biden has called it quits after stepping down from the United States elections to be held in November 5, 2024. The Democratic Party flag bearer has announced in a letter posted on his X account.
“It has been the greatest honor of my life to serve as your President. And while it has been my intention to seek reelection, I believe it is in the best interest of my party and the country for me to stand down and to focus solely on fulfilling my duties as President for the remainder of my term,” Biden wrote in a letter posted to his X account.
This development comes weeks after a disastrous debate with Republican’s Donald Trump that created many doubts about his health and fitness to head the country just four months before the November election.
The President said that he was going to focus on fulfilling his duties as President for the remaining part of his term and extended gratitude to everyone that worked hard to see his reelection. He also said that he was going to give more details when he speaks to the nation later in the week.
He did not endorse anyone for the seat.
