Donald Trump Jr. to be Charged for Killing Protected Duck In Italy

After seeing a video created by his lifestyle publication Field Ethos showing Donald Trump Jr. the son of US President Donald Trump discussing the number of ducks he had shot on the trip, including patting the body of an orange-colored bird and called it a “rather uncommon duck for the area,” Andrea Zanoni, an Italian politician, apparently called authorities to report Trump Jr. Several witnesses, including Zanoni and the local Association of Ornithologists’ president, informed Times of London the bird shown in the video is a female ruddy shelduck, or casarca as the bird is known in Italy, a species protected both by European Union directive and Italian law.

The Italian Hunting Federation’s president, Massimo Buconi, informed The Guardian that, should the bird in issue be a ruddy shelduck, hunting it is unlawful. Trump Jr. may be seen in the video firing ducks from a foxhole in a lagoon that Zanoni claimed was taken in a designated conservation area close to Venice. Adding “Don takes following all rules, regulations and conservation on his hunts very seriously and plans on fully cooperating with any investigation,” Andy Surabian, a spokesman for Trump Jr., said in a statement to the Associated Press suggesting it was possible someone else in the hunting group killed the duck or that the duck was killed by another group and retrieved by the incorrect hunting dog.

Tuesday’s Forbes comment request went unpackled by Trump Jr. and Field Ethos. Trump Jr. seemed to be on a personal trip in Italy during the hunt.
