Former Finance CS, Henry Rotich, Seeking KSh 3B Compensation From Government

Former National Treasury CS Henry Rotich has filed a KSh. 3B compensation suit from the government. In the suit, Rotich cites the Attorney General (AG), the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP), and the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI).

Rotich claims that the government, in 2019, ruined his life over the KSh 63B Arror and Kimwarer dams scandal. In the court’s papers,  Rotich’s health was severely affected, ruined his family’s reputation and destroyed his employment prospects.

The former CS was charged alongside Central Bank of Kenya Governor Kimani Thugge, who later became a state witness. Rotich was acquitted with 8 others after Justice Esther Nyutu ruled that the prosecution had presented insufficient evidence against them.

The taxpayer lost more than KSh. 19B, in advance payments and  unnecessary debt insurance. Prosecutors said the funds were shared out in accounts belonging to the Italian conspirator firms and their agents.
