Top 5 Today: Ruto Appoints Members of IEBC Select Panel and Other Headlines
After a long wait, President Ruto has finally appointed members of a selection panel, mandated to recruit nominees for the positions of Chairperson and members of the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC).

The nominees are: Prof. Adams Oloo, Dr. Nelson Makanda, Fatuma Saman, Amb. Koki Muli, Evans Misati, Nicodemus Bore Kipchirchir, Andrew Tanui Kipkoech, Carolene Kituku and Linda Kiome Gakii.
In the January 27, 2025 gazette notice, the president also revoked the appointment of members of the earlier panel appointed in 2023.
Wamalwa Unveils a New Political Outfit (DAPK)
There’s going to be a new horse in the 2027 general elections. Democratic Action Party of Kenya (DAP-K), headed by Eugene Wamalwa, will officially unveil its new headquarters today at Papaya Villas, off Langata Road, Karen.

It will be graced by among others Trans-Nzoia Governor George Natembeya, Parliamentary Group members, the National Executive Committee (NEC) members, and a host of opposition leaders.
DAP-K already has a strong presence in parts of Western and Rift Valley regions. As the general elections are closing in, the party wants to be a key player and garner influence nationally.
Rigathi Gachagua Meets Martha Karua In Kirinyaga
NARC Kenya party leader Martha Karua has met Rigathi Gachagua and his wife Dorcas after standing political animosity between them. The two visited Karua at her home in Kirinyaga county on Saturday, January 25.
Since he left government, Gachagua has lately been meeting other political players to form an alliance. He has not put his cards on the table yet and is looking to counter his nemesis President William Ruto.
Karua has loosened her stance against Gachagua, saying she would not mind working on a political wayforward with him.
