Dagoretti North Beatrice Elachi, Tinderet MP Julius Melly, Limuru MP Chege Kiragu and Makueni Senator Dan Maanzo were part of Kenya’s Parliamentary delegation at the Annual National Prayer Breakfast in Washington, D.C. The annual event that convenes over 3,500 leaders from across the world.

The delegation touched down on Monday, January 3, 2025 and was led by Speaker of the National Assembly Moses Wetang’ula. Uhuru Kenyatta’s brother, Muhoho Kenyatta, was also present at the session.
According to the lawmaker, their meeting was centred around matters of national interest. However, Osoro did not delve deeper into what they discussed.
“At the sidelines of the National Prayer Breakfast in Washington DC, Muhoho Kenyatta, Delaware Senator, Chris Coons(Democrat and Muhoho’s schoolmate), South Dakota Senator, Mike Rounds(Republican) and yours truly had consultative meetings on matters that touch on our nations’ long-standing relationships,” Osoro’s picture caption read in part.
G4S Security Firm To Lay Off Over 400 Employees
G4S had previously notified the Ministry of Labour in November 2024 of its intention to lay off staff, citing economic difficulties as the primary reason for the decision.
At least 400 employees at G4S Kenya will be rendered jobless as of February 28, 2025, following the company’s decision not to renew their contracts.
According to a notice, contracts that expired on December 31, 2024, will not be renewed for 2025 due to reduced business operations, declining revenues, and increased operational costs.
Affected employees have been instructed to return all company property and obtain clearance slips to facilitate the processing of their final dues.

LSHS Placed Under Receivership Following a KCB Bank Debt
Established in 1950, Labh Singh Harnam Singh Limited (LSHS), a bus and body building company, has been placed under administration over a Ksh. 1.1B KCB Group loan. The firm was put under receivership by the High Court from February 4, 2025.
The High Court has appointed Ponangipalli Venkata Ramana Rao and Swaroop Rao Ponangipalli as joint administrators the commercial bidy building firm.
“Any party having a claim against the company shall submit the claim in writing with relevant supporting documentation to the joint administrators not later than March 15, 2025. The joint administrators act as agents of the company without personal liability.” Ponangipalli Venkata Ramana Rao and Swaroop Rao Ponangipalli said in a joint notice.
The company has been servicing orders for prominent dealers including Isuzu East Africa, Scania East Africa, DT Dobie, CMC Motors Group, Simba Colt Limited, Hino Motors, and King Long since 1950.
Five Local Chiefs in Mandera County Abducted by Al- Shabaab Militants
On February 3, a day after President Ruto visited Mandera County, Al Shabaab kidnapped five local chiefs from Mandera County, demanding a Ksh 7M ransom.

The abduction incident is escalating fears and urgency for security in the local community and safe release of the government officers. Frantic efforts by elders are ongoing to raise the ransom money while they keep pleading for government intervention.
The abducted officials are: Mohammed Adawa, Mohammed Hassan, Mohammed Noor, Assistant Chief Ibrahim Gabow, and Senior Chief Abdi Suraw.
Elders from Mandera and Nairobi are holding urgent meetings to fundraise for the ransom.
The situation remains dire as efforts to rescue the abducted chiefs intensify amidst heightened security concerns. Ruto has ordered Deputy Inspector-General of Police Gilbert Masengeli to lead security operations to recover the chiefs and restore order in the region.

Natalie Githinji will be the new host on NTV’s new TV show, “Beatz n Buzz”, four months after leaving her radio job at NRG.
Also hosting the entertainment show, will be Laura Mbatha and DJ Twinnzle. It will premiere from tiday, February 7, 2025, and will be running every Friday from 4 to 6.30 PM.
Natalie started working at NRG Radio five years ago, and left to pursue new challenges and opportunities, according to her. Laura Mbatha also recently quit KTN, as a presenter on Spice FM, before joining NTV.
