Top of The Day: Beneficiaries of Supplementary Budget and Other Headlines

The latest supplementary Budget II 2024/25 seeks to adjust the budget to cover all expenses up to June 2025. The supplementary budget, which was first published by National Treasury in February 2024, was revised and the allocation of some items was increased while other budget items were reduced.
Some of the changes in the supplementary budget include:
- Office of the 4th President, former President Uhuru Kenyatta, is among the beneficiaries who are set to receive increased allocationwill receive an additional allocation of Ksh 23M.
- The budget for domestic travel and transportation costs was increased by Ksh 1M.
- Office furniture and general equipment was proposed to be increased by Ksh 4M while that of general supplies was increased by Ksh 1.6M.
- Significant budgetary increases include insurance whose allocation was increased from Ksh23 million to Ksh 46M.
- Another Ksh 400,000 was added to the budgetary allocation for training expenses.
Treasury stated that the decrease in other sectors is mainly due to a reduction in donor funding for capital expenditure. Some of the expenses that faced budget cuts were foreign travel whose allocation was reduced from Ksh 96M to Ksh 95M.
Also reduced was the budget for hospitality. The allocations were reduced from Ksh 24.5M to Ksh 22M.
The budget for printing and advertising services was also reduced by Ksh 2.5M. Routine maintenance was also reduced by Ksh 1M.
Uhuru Kenyatta Pays Tribute to Germany’s Former President
Uhuru Kenyatta received a heroic welcome in Germany where he went to pay tribute to the late former German president Horst Köhler. Köhler, served as Germany’s Federal president from 2004 to 2010.
During the solemn state funeral, Uhuru was accompanied by Stella Mokaya Orina. Stella is Kenya’s Ambassador to Germany and also the envoy to Poland and the Czech Republic.
Uhuru met the late Köhler during his visit to Kenya, where he championed sustainable development, wildlife conservation, strengthening Africa’s institutions, youth, and innovation in shaping the continent’s future.
Köhler’s servive was also attended by many dignitaries including: German president Frank-Walter Steinmeier, former Austrian president Dr. Heinz Fischer, and Theodor Waigel, all of whom delivered moving tributes to Köhler.
Size 8 and DJ Mo Renew Vows in a Private Ceremony
Gospel artists Size 8 and DJ Mo have renewed their wedding vows in an intimate ceremony held on Tuesday, February 18, 2025, at JS Meadows in Sigona, Kiambu County. It was a black and white theme and artists such as Willy Paul, Wahu, and David Moya performed for the guests.
This renewal comes shortly after their public reconciliation and DJ Mo’s Valentine’s Day proposal, following a separation in 2024.
They separated in August 2024, after 11 years of marriage. She described the decision was driven by circumstances she believed were insurmountable at the time.
DJ Mo, in a subsequent interview, acknowledged the separation and highlighted the importance of authenticity in their public life. He noted that their openness about marital challenges was intentional, aiming to avoid portraying a facade of perfection. DJ Mo emphasized their commitment to co-parenting during this period.

Singer Jose Chameleone To Undergo Surgery Again
Uganda’s superstar and singer, Joseph Mayanja aka Jose Chameleone, who was previously hospitalised in December, is reportedly set to undergo pancreatic surgery again. This is after he had shown immense improvement following his ongoing treatment.
He was rushed to a USA hospital in after experiencing new health complications. This is according to his close friend, Juliette Zawedde, who shared the update on TikTok, to his millions of fans around the world. In the video, paramedics are holding lifting the singer off a sofa into a wheelchair, who is evidently sickly and weak.
Chameleone’s diehard fans flooded social media with thoughts and prayers, wishing him a speedy recovery.
