Top of The Day: Raila Receives an Angry Welcome in Kisii and Other Headlines

Raila was yesterday booed by Kisii residents when he accompanied local leaders during the unveiling of Shabana FC’s jersey.

Sections of the crowd were charged and were chanting anti-Ruto choruses ansd some were reprimanding Raila. As he was addressing the crowd, others walked out, ignoring the former Prime Minister speech.

Reacting to the incident, several leaders weighed in on the political drama. Kimilili MP Didmus Barasa called for tolerance, asking residents to exercise restraint and remain objective.

Others like Hon. Peter Orero, took to X, hailing Kisii people for keeping it real and giving Baba the actual feeling on the ground. However, Raila’s diehards remained behind and accorded him an ear.

Ruto Hits Road to Popularize Pact With Raila

President William Ruto, has today, March 10, 2025, hit the city residents embarked in a bid to popularise his new pact with opposition leader, Raila Odinga.

Ruto’s tour started from Kamkunji to Eastleigh where he addressed a big crowd in Eastleigh. In his usual imploring tone, he asked Kenyans to support his new partnership with ODM, noting accelerated development and national cohesion.

Nimekuja kwa heshima kubwa kuwauliza watu wa Nairobi na Kenya kwa ujumla.. Waswahili wanasema umoja ni nguvu kutengana ni udhaifu. Nawauliza kwa unyenyekevu mkubali tuungane..” quipped Ruto.

Ruto and Raila convened at KICC, on Friday 7th March 2025, and signed pact agreeing to implement the National Dialogue Committee (NADCO) report.

Scuffle at Roysambu’s Jesus Winner Ministry Church Over Ruto’s Church Donation

There was drama for much at Roysambu, for better part of yesterday, when angry youth clashed with police in running battles. They breached barriers which were blocking entrance to the Jesus Winner Ministry Church.

Their demands were over a KSh 20M donation by President William Ruto during the church’s fundraiser the previous week. Insisting that the funds is taxpayer’s, they wanted a full refund to address pressing national issues such as unemployment and detarioriating public services.

The chaos forced hundreds of police officers to block entrance, and to retaliate with tear gas, at he protesers who were hurling stones. The demonstrations affected Thika Road, bringing traffic to a standstill.

The church held a brief service with worshippers standing firm in their resolve. The faithfuls viwed to keep the donation and emphasizing that the protests would detter them.

Mystery as Kidnapped MCA Returned After Months of Captivity

Yusuf Hussein Ahmed, former MCA  Della Anole Ward, was kidnapped off the streets of Nairobi, six months ago.  The lawmaker reappeared Sunday night, 9th March 2025, at around 9:30 PM, when he was dropped by masked men looking very weak.

He was last seen on Sept. 13, 2023, in Wajir County, when his Uber was hijacked on Enterprise Road. He was pushed into an unmarked SUV, by unknown masked men, into the night.

His family has expressed agony over his my myterious disappearance, held protests and filed petitions. When some mutilated bodies were found in Lake Yahud, they thought he was the one, but a test proved otherwise.

Ahmed was rushed to a hospital where he was declared stable but diagonised with malnourishment and sleep-deprivation. The MCA’s case is one of the high-profile abductions, tied to shadowy networks, that the government has been accused on being casual about. Ahmed’s family wants justice while his supporters are demanding answers. No one has recorded a statement over the Sunday incident.
