What happened to Boniface Mwangi?

Boniface Mwangi, a notable Kenyan activist known for his leadership in anti-government demonstrations, has raised concerns after deactivating his social media accounts following a cryptic final message.
Many are speculating whether he is safe or contemplating suicide, as his message hinted at being overwhelmed and ready to move on to the next life.

Is Boniface Mwangi safe, did he commit suicide, what did his last tweet mean? Those are the questions lingering in the minds of netizens today as they try to understand what is going on with the vibrant activist Bonface Mwangi. This comes after he deactivated his social media accounts which have millions of followers. The activists stated in his last post that, ‘There comes a point in time when one is tired and ready to move on to the next life.’ Afterwards he deactivated his account leaving people with many speculations on what could be happening.

Boniface Mwangi was the face of the recent Gen Z demonstrations in Kenya against a myriad of issues including the rising cost of living, corruption, impunity, and wastage of public funds. The demonstrations that went on for weeks saw the famed activist mobilize and facilitate many anti government activities through picketing as well as his trademark themed demonstrations characterized by carrying a coffin on the streets and many more. The activist and his colleagues were successful in their conquest as the demonstrations lead to the scrapping of the 2024 Finance Bill as well disbanding of President Ruto’s cabinet. However, this did not come without its fair share of problems for Boniface Mwangi including getting abducted, arrested, charged in court and threatened.

Based on the cryptic message he passed through his tweet, many people are speculating that the government could have threatened him to a breaking point. Other individuals are wondering if he insinuated that he was going to commit suicide.

He wrote:

“Someone gets to a stage in life, and they decide this is it for them. They’re ready for the next world. The pain, troubles, and expectations of others in this world are too much. They exit the stage, celebrate their life. End of story.”

Activist Hanifa, among other X personalities, attempted to get in touch with him and his family after seeing the tweet. In one of her tweets she raised concerns about not knowing the whereabouts of Boniface Mwangi and pleaded to his adversaries to stop antagonizing him.
